It can be tricky thinking of gift ideas for men at the best of times but when my friend asked me for ideas for her groomsmen gifts at her forthcoming wedding, I was really stuck for idea. I had a wonderful time yesterday wandering around my home town. My husband took his parents out to lunch there as there is a lively restaurant that we like going to. Then we had a walk around the town. We looked at an out door art exhibition and around some of the parks and gardens and then we wandered around the shops. It was a Sunday and they were very surprised at how many shops were open and they refused to go in any because they still treat Sunday as a sabbath and think that you should not work on that day. I was enjoying lookig in the shop windows as the shops there are rather grand. I spotted some very nice women’s shoes which had heels far too high for me, but looked fabulous. I was also enjoying looking at the range of formal dresses which all looked lovely. It was amazing how many of them were reduced in price, in fact most shops had a sale on. I had to smile when we went past a teen clothing shop and my father in law said how horrid he thought everything in the window was. I must admit that it was not the nicest shop but I didn’t think it was that bad!

I am looking for some unique gift ideas as I am running out of ideas f things to give people. I always like to give people something that they think is good fun and something that no one else is likely to give them. I get great joy out of seeing their faces when they open a present with a gift of something very unusual. I have just found a great website which mainly does things like coach gifts but they also do some other great personalised gifts. I love giving people personal things because it shows that I have put thought into it and it means more to them as well. I am really interested in the personalized blankets that they have as I think that they are a really lovely gift. It is great to put names on things and maybe some nice photos as well. They do a lovely photo blanket and so I may be ordering a few of those for some people. I think that they look so nice that I might even get one for myself as well.

I cannot believe that the girls at the office have been talking about getting father’s day gifts already. I suppose it is not that far away really. My children just make cards for their Daddy, I do not believe in doing presents for fathers or mothers day ? I think it is not fair to expect the children to do that. Why are men so hard to buy for? I don’t tend to buy presents for my husband any more as he is so fussy. He buys what he likes through the year or tells me something that he would like. The nicest gift I have given to him was a pocket watch and cufflinks for his wedding present but he has hardly used them since. He hates surprised and so I have to always check with him before I buy gifts anyway. It would be nice to be able to get him something that he really liked and surprise him with it and I think that if I managed to get exactly the right thing, then he would enjoy the surprise. However, this is really hard to do as it is usually something technical that I do not know enough about. I have, in the past, resorted to looking in a shop or on a website with gifts for men but find it hard to pick out something which he would find useful, as he does not like presents which are not useful. I think that if people are that fussy then they shouldn’t expect to get gifts that they will like or maybe not expect to get gifts at all!

I have just discovered this wonderful shop on my high street which is like an Aladin?s cave. From the outside it looks like a model shop but inside they have the most amazing model train supplies. I find these tiny things amazing to look at and am always looking for a few odds and ends to add to my collection. I saw some estes rockets in there the other day and made it right to the top of my wish list. You see I cannot afford to buy things like this for myself but when it is my birthday, my children always want to buy me a present and so I write a list of the model bits that I want and give it to them and then they choose which ones they can afford or would like to get. It is a great way of improving my collection without breaking the bank. Last year they got me a gas rc car which was fantastic and I was most grateful. I sometimes wish that they did not waste their money on me, as I know how hard they work for what they have. However, I love the gifts that they buy me and I appreciate them even more knowing how much love they are given with.
